Ian Holmquist is a freelance trumpet player from Whittier, CA and is currently studying classical trumpet performance as an undergraduate at California State University, Long Beach. He has established himself in both the jazz program and wind bands at his school and is also involved in various other brass and jazz organizations across Los Angeles and Orange County. Ian teaches trumpet and beginning piano, both privately and in group settings, and has coached brass at several high schools in his hometown and in the Long Beach area. Ian has most recently extended his freelancing career to include more unconventional and exciting musical styles, regularly performing with Oxnard-based ska-punk group The Grittys and touring briefly with the popular San Diego reggae band Tribal Seed. His time away from the trumpet is most often spent fiddling with his keyboard and ukulele.
